Volleyball Tournament

Welcome to our 8thgrade Girls Volleyball Tournament at Notre Dame High School. This is an 8-team tournament with each team playing a minimum of 4 matches (see enclosed schedule).
All teams should check in by 7:55 am. The gym will open at 7:30 am with the first matches starting at 8:30 am sharp.
There will be a coaches meeting at 8:00 am. In the gym lobby located at the 2nd St. side of the gym.
Each team will be assigned a bench outside of the gym that will be their home base for the day. Please keep the gym clear of all your belongings, including during your game. No player gym bags or backpacks will be allowed in the gym.
Teams will remain on the same court for round robin play. Championship games will be played on main court.
At the beginning of matches 1 and 2 on each court, each team will have the court alone for 5 minutes. This means you can use the time for whatever you want (passing, hitting, serving or nap time, it’s your court). The opposing team must stay off the court regardless. You will be given a 1 minute warning prior to your time being up. The serving team will have the first 5, with the receiving team the second 5. The remaining matches (including playoffs) will be 3 minutes of shared hitting only (NO SERVING). Warm up balls will be provided for you.
Rock, paper, scissors will be the best 2 out of 3 to declare a winner. Captains will pick serve or receive. Teams will begin on the side according to the score sheets.(Championship/playoff Games) In the event of a 3rd game, there will be another coin toss to decide serve, side or receive. There will be NO switching of sides in game 3.
Match #1 will begin promptly at 8:30 am. All other matches will start immediately after the 4-minute warm up time. The coin toss for the next match will take place immediately after the conclusion of the prior match. Teams should already be on the court warming up during the coin toss. You do not have to officiate, so please be on time and ready to play.
Round Robin matches will be 2 games with rally scoring to 25 with a 27 pt cap. (Championship and playoff games) will be 2 of 3 games with rally scoring to 25. In the event of a 3rd game, it is rally scoring to 15. All games must be won by 2 points, with no cap. All National Federation High School Rules will apply. (No Libero)
PLAYERS SHAG THE BALL, NOT THE OFFICIATING CREW (THIS INCLUDES THE LINESPERSON). A delay of game warning will be given to both teams regardless of which side the ball is on. A delay of game point will be given to the team which does not shag the ball on their side. This rule will be strictly enforced.
Let serves will be allowed during all games. Due to court limitations, both feet must be off the court at the moment the serve is initiated. At the point of contact for the serve, only 1 foot will be allowed ON the court.
In determining the playoff brackets, games won, head to head, least amount of points given up, and if needed, 1 game to 15.
The Notre Dame Volleyball Team will be providing all of the officiating for this tournament. A crew of 6 players is assigned to each court. Do not question JUDGEMENT calls. The Head Official is Joaquina Batula St. Victor Athletic Director
Everyone associated with this event from the coaches, athletes, officials, parents, spectators, and school administration play an important role in seeing that standard of sportsmanship is upheld before, during and after a contest is played.
Sportsmanship implies the willingness to accept and abide by the decision of the officials.
Team awards will be presented to the first and second place team, immediately following the championship game.
Snack Tickets
Each participant will receive a snack ticket worth $1.75 redeemable at the concession stand. Tickets have no cash value.
